WHERE & WHEN DO YOU MEET?

We meet at Coast Hills Church for most events. We meet a couple of times a month. We also have a community outing at least once a month, visiting various local spots such as movies, restaurants or coffee shops. To find out where we are meeting next, please take a look at our Event Calendar.

DO YOU PROVIDE ADDED CARE/SUPERVISION FOR MY LOW FUNCTIONING ADULT? WHAT LEVELS OF SPECIAL NEEDS DO YOU WORK WITH?

While we do NOT provide supervision, we welcome all levels of special needs. If you adult requires more attention or needs supervision, we ask that a parent, sibling, or caregiver join us at Club Nights for the first couple of months. Then, we can reevaluate with you the best way we can continue to serve your adult.

I'M INTERESTED IN BEING A LEADER, DO I NEED TO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS?

You do not need any previous experience. All we require is that leaders have a caring heart for people with special needs, and are willing to learn and if needed receive some training. We also ask all leaders to fill out a contract and complete a background check.

HOW MUCH DOES LIGHTHOUSE COST?

Club Nights are absolutely free. Participants do bring their own money for outings to pay for things such as their movie tickets, hot chocolates, etc. As a non-profit organization, Lighthouse relies on donations for funding. If you are interested in a one-time or monthly gift, please visit our Donations page.

HOW DOES CAMP WORK FOR A LIGHTHOUSE PARTICIPANT?

Most summers, The Lighthouse Group goes to Forest Homes for a weekend camp. There are a limited number of camper spots that are open and are filled on a first come first serve basis. The number of open positions depend upon the number of Leader volunteers that are available that year. The campers are paired with a leader during the weekend and get to experience the great outdoors.

DOES IT COST TO GO TO CAMP FOR A LIGHTHOUSE PARTICIPANT? WHAT DOES IT COST FOR A LEADER?

There is a fee to go to our Camp event. The fee is determined yearly and is based on the overall cost of the camping event. Volunteer Leaders do not incur a cost to attend.
